Winnipeg Brew Bombers Present:
The Half Pints Pro/Am Brew Challenge

BJCPScoreSheetThe Winnipeg Brew Bombers and Half Pints Brewing Company are pleased to present Manitoba’s first, BJCP/AHA sanctioned, Annual Pro/Am beer competition. This event is a  friendly competition between professional and amateur brewers in the name of craft beer.

Amateur and Professional Brewers from across Canada are invited to send their finest crafted beer to the competition to be judged by professional, certified BJCP judges.

Along with first, second and third professional winners, and gold, silver and bronze amateur winners, a Professional or Amateur will be named winner for each category. At the end of the competition, Best of Show winners will be announced and an overall winner will be named.

Will the Professional brewers triumph over the Amateurs? Can the home brewers pull off an upset?

The Best of Show Winner gets to brew 1,000 litres of the winning batch at the Half Pints Brewery. This special release will be available at the brewery and on tap at select pubs in Winnipeg. (Travel costs are not included.)

  1. Trying to complete the beer entry form and I’m getting the following:
“Data too long for column ‘brewWinnerCat’ at row 1”

Does this mean that my beer is too awesome to enter?

  2. Hey folks, just curious what prizing will be available, if any, beyond medals/certificates and the ProAm?

    1. Well, we have enlisted many sponsors that are donating prizes such as grain, yeast, brew kits, gift certificates, hops, t-shirts, brewing paraphernalia and other great prizes. Some of our sponsors are: Brewer’s Direct, Grape & Grain, Everwood Ave Brewshop, Malteurop, Northern Brewer, Farmery, Barley Brothers, Five Star, Gilbertson and Page, Beer Grains Supply Co plus others.

  3. I am still fairly new to homebrewing but I have a couple beers I would love to enter 😀 one of them is in a Canadian made Stubby bottle, is that acceptable? I was looking up bottle size and the internet and I was only able to get a range from 330ml to 375 ml. Just want to make sure it will be acceptable 🙂 Thank you for your assistance.

  4. will 650ml bombers be accepted? unfortunately that’s all I have bottled at the moment.thanks

  5. It’s now mid-October and still no further information about entering this competition. The web-site says a link for Online Registration will be posted by the end of Sept. Am I missing it? Or is it just late in getting posted? If the latter, when can we expect to see it? Thanks,

  6. Well i cant wait for this competition brewed up a beer as soon as i heard about it in august. would like membership info for the beer club to if possible.

    1. Hi Thomas, Glad you found us. Your dues could be be paid at the next meeting. Check the Events Calendar if you are interested and we’ll see you at the next meeting! – Brett

    1. Absolutely, we’ll try to get it to you within two weeks. We are in the process of creating a system where you could actually download your score sheet after the competition is complete. We are still working out the logistics on that undertaking.

  7. I would like to join…sent me stuff via email…..find me on Facebook….keep brewing brothers……oh y’all going down this November.

    1. Hi Mike, Glad you found us. Are you interesting in attending our meetings each month? Your dues could be be paid at the next meeting. – Brett

      1. I would love to attend but alas I have children and my wife works Tuesdays and sitters run alot…..that is a batch of beer. A mailing address for membership dues would be good for me. I also have a room and a bed if a judge needs to be put up for the competition .
